The AI Daily: Anthropic just released two big updates for Claude: a new Research feature that conducts web searches and a Google Workspace integration that connects to mails, calendar, and documents.
Key notes:
Research turns Claude into a smart agent that searches the web, explores different sides of a topic, and gives answers with sources.
Workspace integration links Claude to Gmail, Calendar, and Docs, so you don’t have to copy and paste anything.
Research is in beta for Max, Team, and Enterprise plans in the US, Japan, and Brazil.
The Workspace integration is open to all paid users, but admins must approve it for Team and Enterprise.
Enterprise users get additional "cataloging" capabilities for improved document search.

Cuts down storage costs by up to 83% using compressed file formats.

OPENAI
The AI Daily: OpenAI has formed a nonprofit commission with four top advisors to guide how it uses AI to help with big issues like healthcare, education, and public services. The group will listen to community feedback and suggest ways AI can make a real difference.

The advisors team includes labor leader Dolores Huerta, media exec Monica Lozano, health expert Dr. Robert K. Ross, and advocacy leader Jack Oliver.
The commission will submit recommendations to OpenAI's board within 90 days.

The commission will engage with communities and nonprofit leaders.
Daniel Zingale, who has worked with leaders from both political parties, will lead the group.
